REGISTRATION AND FUNDRAISING
DCAC sponsored the 17th annual Maryland Swim for Life on July 19, 2008. This annual fundraiser begins and ends at Rolph's Wharf on the Chester River, which is one of the Chesapeake Bay's most beautiful tributaries. Swimmers have the choice of swimming 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 miles and must raise a minimum of $100 to participate. Proceeds from the event benefit the Chester River Association along with various small organizations that assist individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS.
The relatively warm water (2007 averaged ~70 degrees), minimal current, and many options for distance, makes this an ideal event for both first-timers and seasoned open water swimmers. This event has also become popular among the local triathlete community. Wetsuits are not required, but many participants wear them.
Please contact DCAC member Nell Orscheln (membership(at)swimdcac.org) or the flyer (2008_Swim_for_Life_flyer.pdf) for more information.
